NYSE Euronext reported NYSE Group, Inc. March 2007 transaction volume in all securities traded by NYSE Group. This report represents the NYSE Group monthly volume release issued on a combined basis for NYSE and NYSE Arca.
There were 23 IPOs in March, with 10 on JASDAQ, seven on OSE Hercules, five on TSE Mothers and one on the TSE second section. This is three more than in March 2006, but the total amount procured was JPY 46.5 billion, far below the JPY 176.2 billion raised by the March 2006 IPOs.
The Nasdaq Stock Market, Inc. announced plans to introduce the NASDAQ China Index(sm) (Nasdaq:CHNX), which is designed to track the performance of the largest Chinese companies whose securities are listed and actively traded in the U.S. NASDAQ will begin disseminating the Index during the second quarter of 2007.
The shares of NYSE Euronext began trading today, first on Euronext in Paris at 9:00 a.m. (CET) and soon to follow in New York on the NYSE at 9:30 a.m. (EST). The opening share price on Euronext Paris for the newly merged company was €75. A total of 257,598,971 NYSE Euronext shares were admitted to listing.
Euronext cash markets registered their busiest month ever with a record 28.5 million transactions completed in March 2007, up 35.3% on the same month last year. The average daily number of cash transactions stands at 1.3 million, its highest level ever.
The Chicago Board of Trade announced that average daily volume (ADV) for the first quarter of 2007 reached a record 3,865,771 contracts, an increase of 24 percent compared with the first quarter of 2006. Total volume for the first quarter was a record 239,677,821 contracts, up 24 percent over the same period last year and 18 percent over the previous quarterly volume record, set in the fourth quarter of 2006.
The Chicago Board of Trade announced that it will launch mini-sized CBOT Ag futures contracts on its e-cbot® electronic trading platform. This is the first time these contracts will be available on an electronic platform and they will include mini-sized Corn, mini-sized Soybeans and mini-sized Wheat contracts.
The New York Stock Exchange today released its weekly program-trading data submitted by its member firms. The report includes trading in all markets as reported to the NYSE for Mar. 19-23.
At a time when commodities have taken a hefty hit - crude oil has dropped 28.8% from its high on May 2, gold is down more than 25%, and natural gas has corrected 49.5% - one commodity is moving higher by the day.
