As of mid-February, short interest in 2,759 NASDAQ Global MarketSM securities totaled 6,876,984,991 shares compared with 6,736,950,189 shares in 2,744 Global Market issues for the month of January.

CBOT Sets All-Time Record for Daily Trading Volume : 11 Million Contracts

The Chicago Board of Trade today announced that it set an all-time record for trading volume Tuesday, as total Exchange volume surpassed 11 million contracts. The new CBOT volume record, 11,196,830 contracts, was 44 percent better than the previous all-time record, 7,791,833 contracts, set on November 28, 2006.

CBOT 10-Yr Interest Rate Swaps Set Electronic Daily Trading Volume Record

The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT®) today announced that trading in its 10-year Interest Rate Swaps contract set a record on Friday, February 23, 2007, as volume climbed above 15,000 contracts for the first time. The new record, 15,782 contracts, surpasses the previous record, 14,835 contracts, set on March 13, 2003.

CBOT Launches Dow Jones U.S. Real Estate Index Futures Contracts

The Chicago Board of Trade today successfully launched its new futures contract based on the Dow Jones U.S. Real Estate IndexSM (DJUSRE). DJUSRE Index futures contracts are designed to help market participants capitalize on changes in the real estate sector of the stock market and better manage commercial real estate exposure.

NYSE Group, Inc. announced that 16 new iShares® ETFs transferred their primary listing from the American Stock Exchange to the New York Stock Exchange as part of the previously announced agreement with iShares in 2005. The addition of these products solidifies NYSE Group, Inc. as the world’s premier venue for ETF listings and trading, with 165 primary listings while handling 43% of all ETF shares traded in the U.S. market in 2006.

New Exchange Traded Funds Based On NASDAQ Clean Energy And NASDAQ-100 Ex-Tech Indexes

The Nasdaq Stock Market, Inc. and First Trust Advisors L.P. have announced the launch of two new exchange traded funds (ETFs) - the First Trust NASDAQ® Clean Edge® U.S. Liquid Series Index Fund and the First Trust NASDAQ-100 Ex-Technology Sector Index Fund. They are based on the NASDAQ® Clean Edge® U.S. Liquid Series Index and the NASDAQ-100 Ex-Tech Sector IndexSM, respectively. The ETFs are managed by First Trust Advisors L.P. and listed on NASDAQ®.
